Karunruk Palliative care research collaboration center: KPCRCC
The Karunruk Center has been providing end-of-life care at Srinagarind Hospital since 2010, offering services to inpatients, outpatients, and home visits based on a patient-family-centered and holistic approach to ensure patients receive high-quality care. In addition, the center has trained over 5,000 healthcare professionals and multidisciplinary teams while establishing a nationwide palliative care network. From 2020 to 2024, the Karunruk Center has implemented a strategic plan to develop the Palliative Care network and advocate for national policies. This includes the development of tools and quality standards for palliative care, as well as supporting hospitals in obtaining Disease-Specific Certification. Furthermore, the center emphasizes the promotion of policies related to advance care planning and advance directives. With its extensive experience, the center and its network have continuously improved the quality of care, fostered innovation, and expanded knowledge to enhance the country’s healthcare system. As part of this commitment, the center has planned the establishment of a Palliative Care Research Center to generate new knowledge and elevate palliative care services in Thailand to international standards. Additionally, in 2023, the center founded a collaborative research center for palliative care, which continues to operate to this day.
